Rubella in pregnancy

Rubella is caused by the rash of rubella virus infection. Most people infected with rubella have life, but because of mild clinical symptoms, and some people were latent infection, it is not being noticed. However, pregnant women suffering from rubella, the situation is completely different. Rubella virus can affect the unborn child, causing serious consequences.
Rubella virus is a teratogenic risk factors. Within 3 months of pregnancy is an important period of organ formation, when pregnant women infected, the virus can pass to the placenta and infect the fetus. This syndrome mainly for cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy and small eyes, deafness, congenital heart disease, central nervous system disorders (microcephaly, encephalitis, mental retardation) or bone damage, hepatosplenomegaly, thrombocytopenia , low birth weight and so on. Some of the symptoms manifested after birth, others after several months to several years to appear. Rubella is not hives (urticaria), should ask the doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
Women after rubella infection can also occur due to re-infection during pregnancy fetal congenital rubella syndrome. Despite suffered from rubella in the human body will produce antibodies, but some still suffered from rubella in pregnant women re-infection, fetal congenital rubella syndrome still occurs.
